Greenford

Here we are at a lovely pub in Greenford overlooking the canal.  Just before we got here we were walking past warehouse units one of which gave our nasal passages another treat as we caught an aroma of curry.  We were beginning to doubt whether this pub existed when suddenly there it was.  We had a well-deserved orange juice and shared a packet of crisps.  We are looking forward to walking to Paddington with Andy and Brendan tomorrow.

Who would have thought we are close to Central London!

What a Load of Old Rubbish!

No seriously this is a load of old rubbish.  This piece of artwork in Southall was created by an artist working with children from a local school.  It was called Heron and Nest and was made from rubbish found in the canal some of it looks suspiciously like a shopping trolley.  

Bull's Bridge

The start of the Paddington Arm.  Paddington is the end of our journey along the Southern Section of the Grand Union Canal.

Coffee Time

Here's Catherine enjoying a coffee.  Well the smell as we walked passed this Nestle factory made it seem like we were in a cafe.  We assume they process Nescafe in there.

Slough Arm

Doesn't this look idyllic apparently you see herons and cormorants along this arm according to two very enthusiastic people we passed near Water's Edge.  We've seen herons but no cormorants so far.  We decided we would walk all the arms in the autumn.

We liked the look of this pub called Water's Edge.  No time to stop today but we'll have to come back another time.

Mail Delivery

I think we should refuse this kind offer as it's a long way to Cowley Lock to pick up the mail (even though it is very pretty as you can see from the next photo)!

Greenford Here We Come

The first of our 2 consecutive walks this half term week.  Here we are ready to leave Uxbridge (we are walking on our own this time so there were no issues with car parks!).
